(Some of) the Red Chairs of Banff National Park

In specially selected spots around several national parks, Parks Canada has installed pairs of red chairs to lure people out into these unique locations. Instantly taken with the concept we planned to scoot round and find as many as we could.

Chairs to ponder the reflections at Two Jack Lake. A good first find.

Happy red chair people.

Lake Minnewanka (remember, ‘wonka’) – pretty ho hum from this side…

…but pretty alright from this side.
There are 13 around Banff. It would’ve been nice to collect the set but we didn’t have long and seven would be our tally.

On the hoodoos viewing trail, racing to the chairs ahead of the sightseers behind us.

Bit of an awkward viewing spot but, y’know, still good.

Hello again Mt Rundle. Here on Tunnel Mountain Rd we first waited for a man to set up a tripod for his red chair selfie.

Perfect spot up on Mt Norquay Scenic Drive.

Red chairs in the woods at Mule Shoe Lake along the Bow Valley Parkway.

Bit wet.

The sole offering for our collection from Yoho National Park was at Takakkaw Falls – where for something different the chairs are facing out.
The chairs left an impression (and vice versa probably) and now that we’re home we’re sourcing a couple for the deck where we can sit and enjoy the majesty and sweeping vistas of… the side of our house.
This post made me laugh. Who would have ever thought about placing two red chairs side by side for tourists or who ever to sit and take in the scene? Never heard of this before and I think it’s a rather cool idea. I laughed again when I read that you’d be looking at the side of your house while sitting in your new chairs. That was too funny. Love you sense of humor.
🙂 the chairs will be just somewhere comfy to perch in the sun and read as opposed to gaze out at the natural splendour! There was a vaguely similar concept here around the Auckland Regional Parks where a very large picture frame was placed in front of viewing spots.
Those views! Hayley, you really do live in a stunning part of the world. And the red chairs are pretty stunning too! ❤️
NZ can’t take the credit this time! We were in Canada a few weeks ago. We miss it a LOT!
I realised my mistake afterwards, sorry Hayley! We’ve been moving in to the new house and my brain is frazzled. Pete adores Canada, he’d move there like a shot. It does look beautiful.
I’ve just had a quick peruse of your Facebook pics – what an amazing amount of work, it’s looking fantastic! Hope the rest of your settling in etc goes as smoothly as it can.
Thank you!
Very cool! Love the bright red of these as well!
Yes, they’re the perfect colour!
